On April 26th and 27th the youth Russian team held two friendly matches against Portugal. The teams couldn’t reveal the strongest one, the matches ended in a draw, 2-2.

Our national team had three players from “Gazprom-UGRA”: Yanar Asadov, Maksim Konov and Andrey Ponkratov. Our young men helped the team in these games. For example, Yanar Asadov scored in both games.

– Yanar, first of all, are you satisfied to end the games in draw?
– I can’t say I’m satisfied. But the fact we did not lose is good as well. We created so many moments during the both games… Twice more than usually (laughs). Clearly we lack implementation of those moments.

– To some extent, this is normal, because the list of the youth team has been changed.
– Well, it depends… This is futsal, the pitch is small. So you quickly adapt to the style of your fellows. You play around ten minutes in the same quarter and already more or less understand each other. And we also had spent some time together back in Moscow in the training camp.

– What do you think about the rival?
– The Portuguese always play close, always impose some struggle. So they just were not ready to give away those balls at home. But according to course of the game, I say once again, we should’ve won the second match. Just bad luck.

– And what about the first half?
– The first time, yes, we failed. We entered the pitch relaxed, thinking we would win anyway.

– Are you satisfied with your performance?
– Thanks to guys! They helped me a lot and I could do those decisive kicks.

– Why did you run to the bleachers today when you scored?
– They said something yelling to me behind my back before. I understand Portuguese a little bit. I did not say anything, just showed that the Russian team is here (laughs).

– With what attitude are you returning to Moscow?
– The road was not short, but the coaching staff managed to build up our work the way that it all didn’t seem hard and passed pretty quick. Going back feeling positive and with good impressions.
