Russian national team player Danil Davidov told us about the victory over Spain in the quarterfinals of the World Cup-16 and the upcoming opponent:
– Emotions from the victory over Spain? The most positive! It was a game of principle, historical confrontation. We have won, but we are not done yet, we gotta move on. It will be difficult to play against Iran for the right to pass to the World Cup finals. We know how strong the opponent is, and how hard for us it is play against them.
The coaching staff reminded us of the semi-finals of UEFA EURO 14, when the Russian team defeated Spain, but we lacked emotions for the final. We were warned that we can’t waste our psychological strength after this important victory, as the tournament goes on. As for our physical condition, it was difficult after the game but we had enough time to recover.
