Head coaches and players about the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Russian Cup, in which the FC “Gazprom-UGRA” triumphed in an away game against the ISK “Dina”,
Besik Zoidze, ISK “Dina” head coach:
– It was a nervous, tense game by professionals who will not forgive any mistake of the opponent. The first half changed after the first goalie moment. In cup games each missed ball makes a negative impact on any team, especially for us since we are playing at home, and each goal has a very high price. So this goal had a negative impact on us. I feel that today we played better, than in the previous game against “Gazprom”. We did not carry out our chances and after a missed ball the psychological state of the guys changed. But we tried to keep the game, tried not to let the opponent increase their advantage, and, of course, we wanted to draw but we did not succeed. We understand that we lost a game in the series, but we understand that there is a second meeting, we will try to correct our mistakes, analyze them, and try to use the second leg to change the outcome. Once again, the game reflected all the beauty of our sport, it is a gift for the fans.
Andrew Ponkratov, ISK “Dina” player:
– First of all we didn’t manage to score. There were many moments in the first half, four times one to one against the goalkeeper, the second half was also full of moments. We kind of studied the way their goalkeeper acts, but could not use his weaknesses. We played slightly better than in the championship, caught up the rhythm of the game. The difference is minimal, everything will be decided in Yugorsk anyway, and we need now to prepare for the Super League game against KPRF.
Kaka, FC “Gazprom-UGRA” head coach:
– I think this is the first Russian game this year played at such a level. Very energetic, very aggressive, both teams acted very quickly. I am very happy with my team. They realized that playing modern futsal means playing tactically the way we did in Sunday’s game, and add to this some aggression, as we did today. We played against a very skillful, well-organized team, a which you can bean only if you play the way we did today.
Andrey Afanasiev, FC “Gazprom-UGRA” player:
– We included pressure, played faster compared with the championship game. We started aggressively and tried throughout the game to keep up the speed. I think that we will succeed, the score 2-0 would be more fair, the last minutes and the last fouls are at the judges’ discretion. Going back home to play the second leg with this victory, expecting a fight, because “Dina” in any case, will not sit down playing in defense, and will show their futsal, which they have been demonstrating throughout the season.
