On Sunday evening, in a Spanish city of Guadalajara the Russian champion, “Gazprom-UGRA” beat Madrid “Inter Movistar” in the UEFA Cup final with a score of 4-3. This is the third victory of Russian futsal clubs in the strongest European club tournament.

The president of futsal union of Russia, Emil Aliev, congratulated “Ugra” over the deserved success.

– The club “Gazprom-UGRA”, that in the last season for the first time in their history won the championship of Russia, was the debutant of the UEFA Cup, but that did not stop our team to go through all the difficult way without a single defeat. It was “Gazprom” that stopped at the stage of “Elite Round” the current holder of the trophy a Kazakh team “Kairat”, then brilliantly distinguished themselves in the “Final Four”, in which for the first time in a long time four best team of the Old World fought for the Cup: Russia, Spain, Portugal and Italy . I’m especially pleased to note that in the final match on their home floor our team defeated a Spanish club “Inter Movistar”, which has one of the strongest players’ list in the world.

Eight years later, after two consecutive victories of “Dynamo” and “Sinara” the UEFA Cup is back to Russia. Huge international experience of the players, that have performed a lot at the national teams level, contributed to the brilliant victory of “Gazprom-UGRA”. It is not coincidence that our clubs are among the most stable in the international arena.

On behalf of the entire team of the Futsal Union of Russia and myself, I congratulate on the great victory all the FC “Gazprom-UGRA”: such managers as President, Peter Sozonov, vice-president, Eduard Berezin, head coach, Kaka, all members of the coaching and administrative staff, the players and, of course, the supporters. I also want to congratulate all Russian futsal fans since today we had a continuation of our glorious victories!
